Here is my roadboard - same as the Austrailian dirtsurfer - except much cheaper. It is made from a kids bike I got at walmart, a board, and a bent piece of pipe. Note the reuse of almost all the bike parts.
My Bro has made onw with larger 20" and 26" wheels. It's much more stable at speed. The back wheel of mine is not too round, so I bought a 20' bike at walmart the other day (for $18!) and will build a bigger one soon. Definitely staying with the bent pipe design - my brothers, which is more like the dirtsurfers, hits the ground when turning hard.
The dirt on the top is surf wax. we decided grip tape was not needed.
