Saturday May 7 2005 Due to the uncommon cleanliness of our house on that day, I decided to make a record for posterity (and possible future housemates). I really didn't put too much planning into this, and the resulting panoramas are not as good as i had hoped. First problem: the camera has automatic exposure and speed adjustment, which makes the rooms seem very dark when the camera is focused on a window, and light when it is focused on the interior. I've done a precursory edit to normalize the light levels in each picture using photoshop's "Levels" editor, but there were a lot of pictures (>150), and I didn't spend much time on any. Actualy, I really didn't spend to much time setting up and taking the pictures either - had i put more effort into framing each so that they would overlap to the right degree, the panoramas would have come out better. This would have also made translating and rotating the pictures into registration easier - you can see the many places where I failed. As you can see the kitchen and living room are rather discontinuous, while the front and back porch both look prretty good. But whateva. our house still rules. (note Shanda and the cat are immortalized several times in these pictures).
the perl script that helped make this page is
here. Kudos to
imagemagick too.
